  • Wow, their carne en salsa was the juiciest, tenderest, most delicious one I had in our 3.5 week trip in Costa Rica! And I've had many, believe me, almost every meal, I ordered a casado with different proteins, but this one at La Hormiga was the bést. We went back the next day and all of us ordered the carne en salsa. The food was overall good and prices too. Not too touristy. They keep it real. When in La Fortuna, eat at this place and Soda Viquez. Big free parking at the back of the restaurant.

  • Soo good and economic. The drinks are made there and taste fresh. The plate of food was just the typical breakfast that I had been looking for. You can splurge and have other sides which also look appetizing. But with the plate that I got it was good enough to fill me for a strong breakfast.

  • Loved this place for casados and typical Costa Rican food! We came twice for casados, highly recommend the pork chop Casado. Great service, ambiance and food.

  • We tried the food of the day (casado) with beef and steak, and both were absolutely mouth-watering. The portions were very generous and filling, and everything was full of flavor. Even though we arrived during rush hour, the service was quick and well organized, which we really appreciated. We also had pineapple and tamarind drinks, and both were fresh, refreshing, and delicious. To finish the meal, we ordered arroz con leche (rice pudding), which was a perfect final touch — creamy, well balanced, and very satisfying. Overall, great food, good service, and a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended!

  • During my stay in La Fortuna, I tried several local restaurants offering traditional Costa Rican food, known as sodas. This particular one was by far the best value for money. A full meal (casado) cost around 3,500 CRC, and the best part—no additional taxes! The food was delicious and authentic, definitely a great way to experience local flavors. The only downside is that they close fairly early in the afternoon, so make sure to go for lunch rather than dinner.
